Arboretum Belmonte guided tour

If you plan to stay in Wageningen on Friday after the closing ceremony, you should join us for a walk to the botanical garden "Arboretum Belmonte". It is a unique place in Wageningen. Many reasons account for this.

Historically, there are traces of the ice age, also a Gelderland important old route, and scars of the Second World War. At present, the arboretum possesses the largest Rhododendron collection in the Benelux (Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxemburg area), as well as the apple tree that is the "mother" of 90 per cent of apple trees in The Netherlands. This is just to mention some interesting trees, because there is also a large Chinese roses collection and much more. Besides, it is an important natural area for bird watchers. For tourism, one of the most beautiful panoramic views can be admired from this geographical location, as it shows the essential characteristics of the Dutch landscape.

The arboretum is now supported by the voluntary association "The friends of the arboretum". One of the members offers us his guide and many stories about it.

If you would like to join, we will gather at the reception around 5.30 pm.
